Start with the animals marked for beginners, and progress on to the more difficult as your skill grows. There are many skills in making balloons that you will have to learn, such as proportion and balance. These will only come with practice.
The measurements given in the figure section are not exact, but are general guidelines. The amount of stretch, type of balloon, and skill of the maker all affect the final out come of the balloon. You may find that you have followed the instructions for an animal exactly, and either ran out of balloon or didn't have enough air. This happens all the time. The best cure is practice and experience.
